London Data Centres | Saunderton Campus

Covering more than 50 acers of land, the campus sets a new benchmark in mega scale data centre capacity for cloud and AI in Europe

Campus Overview

Delivering 75MW of IT load across four separate data centres, the VIRTUS Saunderton Campus is strategically located close to the existing Slough data centre ecosystem.

Covering more than 50 acers of land, the campus sets a new benchmark in mega scale data centre capacity for cloud and AI in Europe. With a blank canvas, the facilities will utilise the latest in cooling technologies to cater for customers of all size. The data centres will be able to support both standard density racks and High Performance Compute within the same environment and will be able to support racks in excess of 100kW per rack.

Sustainable Power

Supporting VIRTUS' journey towards the goal of achieving net zero emissions on all reportable activities by 2030, the campus will utilise 100% renewable energy consistent with the rest of the VIRTUS portfolio.

VIRTUS has committed to a zero-waste-to-landfill principle during the facility’s operation and aims to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold accreditation for sustainability. Other sustainability features include implementation of rainwater harvesting and exploration of waste heat use for adjacent farming.

Additionally, an annual carbon offset payment will be made to the local authority for ten years, contributing to local environmental improvement projects.

State-of-the-Art Technology:

At the core of the VIRTUS Saunderton Campus lies a dedication to state-of-the-art technology and innovation to ensure operational excellence and the delivery of scale and flexibility to meet the demands of new Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning workloads. Designed with the distinct purpose of supporting the growing demands of hyperscale, government and enterprise customers, the campus is primed to cater for the ever-expanding server computer density that is required by cloud computing and generative AI applications. VIRTUS continues to invest and innovate so its customers have access to the latest technologies, including the ability to support racks in excess of 100kW per rack by utilising that latest liquid cooling technologies.
